Changes expected at Dignitas heading into the offseason

Changes are expected at Dignitas following their group stage exit to The Club at the RLCS 2021-22 World Championship with Joris “Joreuz” Robben and Kyle “Scrub Killa” Robertson likely to depart the organization this offseason while Jack “ApparentlyJack” Benton’s future remains uncertain.

While spending much of the RLCS 2021-22 season as one of the premier rosters in Europe, Dignitas have hit a brick wall in recent times coinciding with the addition of former Team Queso coach Nicholas “Nick” Marrone back in May 2022. Having achieved five top 4 placements across the Fall and Winter Splits, the team finished at #10 in the Spring rankings and failed to qualify for the Spring Major. Despite this, their form earlier in the season provided them with qualification to the RLCS 2021-22 World Championship Wildcard where they managed to make it out of the swiss stage with a 3-1 record which included a 4-0 sweep over Spacestation Gaming. However, things took a turn in the main event when Dignitas failed to make it to the playoffs after losing 4-2 to both Team Falcons and The Club.

The roster’s poor form over the past few months have made changes inevitable, with Joreuz and Scrub Killa set to leave during the offseason. Joreuz signed with Dignitas back in 2020 and the organization remains the only team he’s played with so far in his RLCS career. The Dutch star will be exploring his options over the coming weeks and could potentially link up with Archie “archie” Pickthall who is set to depart SMPR Esports following his loan period with Endpoint. Joreuz and archie do have a history together having teamed on The Clappers alongside Gian “Calix” Luca Bruder in 2020 before either player had made their debuts in the RLCS. 

The future of the leading man on the roster, ApparentlyJack, is in question as Dignitas reportedly laid off a large number of its workforce in recent times and could potentially reassess its commitment to Rocket League Esports in the near future.
